HELIOS - Optical Simulation Framework

HELIOS is a simulation framework developed as part of my PhD thesis. It enables complete modeling of the astronomical observation chain, from the celestial source to the detector.

Features

  • Simulation of celestial scenes (stars, exoplanets, sky background)
  • Modeling of complex optical instruments
  • Realistic light propagation
  • Generation of synthetic images including noise
  • Modular and extensible architecture

Technologies

Python, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, Astropy

Impact

Used for the design and validation of high-contrast imaging instruments, contributing to the optimization of observation strategies for exoplanet detection.
